| soonergrass1 | Anyone have any suggestions for killing Johnson grass that is coming up all over my bermuda lawn??? Also what product do you recommend for killing mold problems from heavy rains and standing water?? Thank You! Brent, OKC |
| wereworm | You'll probably have to use glyphosate (Round-up) on Johnson grass--that's a very tenacious weed with deep, deep roots. Benomyl and chlorothalonil kill a wide variety of molds, though if your lawn is being attacked by Pythium mold, you'll have to use chloroneb or ethazol. Aerating the soil will help get rid of the standing water. [This message has been edited by wereworm (edited 14 June 2002).] |
| southern lawns tech | don't use round up!this willkill the bermuda too.use msma it willtake several teatments 5-7 days apart but it will work. please if you listened to that other guy let it be a lesson wait for more info or read the labels for anything you put on your grass first. |
| bplloyd | What is msma? |
| ted | you would have to absolutely id it as "johnson grass" first. there's a specific herbicide for each weed these days! the msma treatment is probably correct provided it's johnson grass. msma is a perennial grassy weed herbicide- you can't buy the pro versions of this product but you can buy off the shelf or ag grade versions. don't spray roundup as a blanket spray - it will kill your bermuda. |
| seed | MSMA is monosodium methanearsenate, a grass herbicide. It is absorbed through plant leaves and translocates. It is a stable, water-soluble material that binds to soil and may or may not move into groundwater, there is some discussion on this. Phil |
